EXTERIOR
RIO 12,90 introduces avant-guard concept into the world of the medium range cruiser.
Its original four-level layout, made possible through a careful study of spatial
distribution and brilliant application of advanced technology, creates a system of
innovative indoor/outdoor relationships that contribute to a more harmonious social
life on board. The craft's single helm station is placed amidships and commands a
view of the entire yacht, thus maximizing safety and manageability. A sunroof made
of GRP and tinted plexiglass opens and shuts electrically without inhibiting in any
way the movements of the pilot and copilot. The upper sundeck, secluded on its own
level above the cockpit, is extraordinary roomy and well-protected and may be used
while under way as well at anchor. The cockpit, which is the focal point of the boat,
is linked with the helm station by few steps and equipped with a two-parts settee aft
plus a multiuse table. A tender may be safely and securely stowed on a platform
mounted on the transom. The gangway, thanks to its hydraulic operation, can also be
used as a swim ladder and even as a davit for lifting the tender.
The 850 HP provided by two turbodiesel engines connected to the shafts by a V drive
system, easily propell RIO 12,90 at top speed of 30 knots.
INTERIOR
The well-planned layout of the RIO 12,90 offers extremely comfortable living
accomodation, featuring an interesting composition of split levels and unusual
"depth of field" which results in the horizontal connection of the cockpit to the
saloon, the galley and the dinette and the vertical connection of the saloon to the
helm station and the sundeck. The levels are hinged to one another in a variety of
ways respecting the individuality of each zone without interferring with comfort on
board.
The saloon offers an area for rest and relaxation featuring an L-settee, plus a bar
zone with fridge, a cabinet for bottles, a small table and a stereo. The liquor
cabinet is situated so as to be accessible from both the saloon and the cockpit, in
a convenient concentration of functions that further improves the standard of living
aboard Rio.
Connected to this area towards the bow is the galley, well ventilated and brightly lit
from above; fully equipped with ample storage for plates, pots and utensils. In front,
there is a lunoheon corner composed of a long table and two facing settees, a discreet
alternative to lunch out in the cockpit. There are two cabins. The master cabin is
towards the bow, with central double bed, with direct access to its own bathroom and
shower unit. A large porthole brings in light air from above.
The guest cabin, with twin bearths, is located amidships and is reached from the
starboard side of the saloon. This compartment also has direct access to a private
bathroom. Naturally, both the L-setee in the saloon and the dinette can be transformed
into berth, meaning that the Rio 12,90 can sleep eight people in there cabins.
